Course Description :

Number theory in class 8 expresses Rational Numbers on a number line, their properties and how to find a Rational Number between two Rational Numbers.

In Algebra eighth graders study linear equations in one variable, reducing equations to simpler forms and equations which can be reduced to a linear form. They also study algebraic expressions and the application of the four basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) on them, some basic algebraic identities and factorization based on these identities.

The basics of polygons fall under the geometrical concepts taught in grade 8. This includes knowledge of the kinds of polygons, the relationship between the interior and exterior angles of a polygon, types and constructions of quadrilaterals and some special parallelograms.

Exponents include positive and negative powers, squares, cubes, square roots and cube roots. The laws of exponents help students to solve questions with large numerical values as powers.

Commercial Mathematics: Ratios, percentages, profit, loss, discount, tax, simple and compound interest and inverse and direct proportion are topics which are the basis of almost all mathematics applicable in daily life.

A very cursory introduction to linear graphs and their applications is also explored.

Methodology in Class 8 CBSE Maths Tuition

Class 8 (CBSE) is the last class up to class 10, which deals with Commercial Mathematics in detail, hence it is crucial that this part of the curriculum is well explained and practiced till all its concepts are understood by students. Plenty of practice worksheets are solved for this purpose.

Many topics taught in this year form the basis of most competitive exams like CLAT(Common Law Aptitude Test), management entrance exams, engineering exams, etc.

A solid foundation of algebraic expressions is laid as this is essentially the base year on which the following years rely on.

FAQ :

1.   The syllabus of class 8 seems quite vast. How do you cover it comprehensively?

The syllabus definitely seems vast, however, if you notice, most of the topics are interrelated and hence, with just a little work, it can be covered effectively and efficiently.

2.   Do I need to consult other books?

Class 8  it is a year to indulge in Olympiads and other such  Competitions. To do well in such competitions one needs to work a little more. Extra practice always helps. You could ask for extra worksheets from your Edugraff teachers or refer to books by R.S. Aggarwal or O.P. Malhotra.
